The pair, who met as Conservatory students, are back together in Lynchburg for an encore performance! Will Hagen is a third prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, one of the highest-ranking Americans in the competition’s history. He performs on the 1732 “Arkwright Lady Rebecca Sylvan” Antonio Stradivari, on generous loan from the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation. Spanish/Dutch pianist Albert Cano Smit was first prize winner at the 2019 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, as well as a first prize winner at the 2017 Walter W. Naumburg Piano Competition. He is a recipient of the 2020 Arthur Rubinstein Piano Prize from The Juilliard School.

Will Hagen and Albert Cano SmitWill Hagen took third prize in one of the most prestigious violin competitions in the world, the Queen Elisabeth in Belgium. He is the highest finishing American since 1980. He has performed as soloist with a number of major symphonies. Albert won the Naumburg competition as well as being named the young artist of the year by the Young Concert Artists of New York City, from a field of talented musicians from around the globe.
